Eclectic label Sacred Bones release Institute's cover of 'Boys At School' by Spellling, a new single from their upcoming 15 year anniversary compilation Todo Muere SBXV (in which artists on their roster cover each other's songs). As two of the most drastically different sounding acts on the label, this makes for one of the most interesting covers, the luscious theatrical arrangements of Spellling's original sound as if they have been worn away, revealing a haggard ghoulish doppelgänger, the melodies just recognisable underneath the hissing distortion, lyrics becoming drunkenly rambled curses. Institute front man Moses Brown explains their choice of cover: “I’d say we were inspired by her star qualities, the audacity, uniqueness, and talent poured into that record inspired us as to what’s possible on the Sacred Bones roster.” The compilation features covers from Marissa Nadler, Anika and many more and is illustrated by legendary artist Nick Blinko. -Toby Evans-Jesra
